yt-skill-mcp
TypeScript MCP server and CLI that extracts timestamped YouTube transcripts without an API key and formats technical workflows into valid Cursor SKILL.md files.
- Role
- Creator & Maintainer
Highlights
- Exposes fetch_youtube_transcript and compile_cursor_skill tools over stdio for Cursor and Claude Desktop.
- Zero-API-key caption extraction directly from YouTube player caption tracks.
- Outputs structured YAML frontmatter + step-by-step Markdown SOPs.
The problem
Engineering talks and tutorials contain great architectural patterns, but unless they live inside your editor as a repeatable skill, you forget them by the next sprint.
What I built
An MCP server and CLI that pulls timestamped transcripts in one call and compiles the takeaways directly into .cursor/skills/<slug>/SKILL.md.
